Amy Gofton, Founding Director

Amy Gofton’s twin passions have always been fashion and flowers. She worked in fashion for decades, ultimately overseeing accessories as Vice President of Design at Kate Spade. There, she honed the skills of developing brand stories, layering textures and color, and understanding how shapes interact with space. All the while, her refuge was her garden, where she spent happy hours with her hands in the dirt. When she left Kate Spade, she was drawn to the artisanal and personal aspects of high-end floral design. What she loves most about this work is understanding how her clients want to feel on their special days, and making it happen with her own hands.

Our Philosophy

At Studio Nectar, we believe a party should engulf you in mystery and possibility; be a lush space in time that can never be reproduced. We set the traditional against the unusual: cafe-au-lait dahlias against dates; a cluster of papery ranunculuses jutting from an ostrich egg. We create designs that are sculptural, textured, and personal. Our concept of luxury is taking extra care to understand your wishes; searching out the finest flowers; and crafting something original that speaks to your style.

Our Services

Whether you want a bride’s bouquet and/or groom’s boutonniere for a dash to city hall, tablescapes that set the tone of your party, or the the entire design of your wedding curated, coordinated and executed by Studio Nectar, you will experience close attention and an artistic sensibility. We also fulfill weekly fine flower orders for restaurants and residences, do in-home design for intimate dinners and holiday parties, style patios and homes for film and photo shoots, and provide floral design for product launches. We offer one-on-one instruction and fun, flower-arranging socials.

Sustainable Floristry

Studio Nectar designs celebrate the glories of natural ecosystems, so we feel we should participate in protecting them. What sustainability means to us is never using floral foam as a base, as it is toxic and does not biodegrade; sourcing from local farms; using seasonal flowers whenever possible; composting; and wasting little. After your blooms are spent, we’ll pick up and compost the arrangement, break down the chicken wire base, and re-use the foundations and vessels. This pick-up service is available upon request for clients in Montclair and its surroundings.
